What is the scaffolding?

What is scaffolding?

There are many types of scaffolding and each is used for different renovation and construction work. This article will introduce you to the most commonly used scaffolding when working on a construction site.

scaffolding work.

Basic division of scaffolding

With regard to their use, a distinction is made between scaffolding:

stand - Scaffolding segments are supported on posts and stands, and the entire structure is braced by stringers, jacks and braces. These types of elements allow loads of considerable weight to be supported and are used for façade work on buildings up to a height of 30 metres. It fulfils its application in indoor and outdoor areas.

modular - consists of crossbars and uprights connected at fixed points that are equally spaced apart. By means of profiled heads and wedge locks, they have the possibility of connecting additional elements. They are used in industry and in the construction and maintenance of large structures such as church towers and stages.

frame - The platform consists of a flat frame that allows the worker to move freely on the scaffolding. Construction of the structure is quick and easy, requiring it to be set up against a wall and attached with anchors. The scaffolding is suitable for repair and construction work and is used in small outbuildings.

warsaw - is a column scaffold consisting of vertical tubes to which a smaller element is connected. It is most commonly used for insulating buildings because of the ease of moving the structure, and the maximum height is 8 metres. Once the maximum height is reached, it is required to be anchored with four lashings.

At method of use Scaffolding is divided into:

installation of mobile scaffolding.
  • mobile, a mobile scaffold that is fitted with castors that allow the structure to move freely without being dismantled. Due to its mobility functionality, the scaffolding is lightweight and stable at the same time. The wheels of the structure are equipped with brakes that allow the scaffolding to be locked in place. It is most often used in small renovation areas.
  • immobileThis type includes all structures that require dismantling to move them and reassemble them in a new location. This solution is necessary in the case of the construction or repair of tall and large structures, and involves an increase in working time.

There is also a distinction between by material of construction, they are scaffolding:

  • aluminium,
  • wooden,
  • steel
