The ERGON Personnel Improvement Centre runs courses for excavator operator and maintainer class III and I qualifications. Theoretical classes
Our training will give you key and essential information on operator safety, and you will learn how to look after your machine to prevent dangerous accidents. In the lectures, you will learn more about such topics as:
- the construction of excavators and their individual parts and systems,
- electrical engineering, hydraulics and excavator combustion engines,
- operator responsibilities,
- health and safety in the workplace.
Practical activities
The practical exercises are designed to teach the trainee the practical operation and use of the excavator in the most optimal way. A major advantage of the practical part is the opportunity to learn from each other and to perform the individual activities under the guidance of our instructors with many years of experience.
In this part of the class, topics such as:
- introductory instructions for the appliance,
- workplace preparation,
- moving the excavator,
- practical operation of the excavator,
- ability to locate faults and damage and to repair them,
- and others.

Examination and certification
Each trainee is required to take a state examination consisting of a practical and theoretical part. Once the required number of points has been obtained, a qualification is awarded allowing the student to work as an excavator operator. The qualifications and entitlements are awarded by the Institute of Mechanisation of Construction and Rock Mining. If necessary, we assist in completing all the formalities so that our trainees can obtain the required qualifications and the documents to prove them as quickly as possible.
You can take part in our course if:
- you are at least 18 years old,
- you have a minimum of primary education,
- you have no health contraindications to work as an operator (confirmed by a medical certificate).
We also offer a range of courses to become operators and maintainers of various machines such as:
- backhoe loaders,
- forklift trucks,
- mobile platforms (aerial work platforms and scissor lifts),
- cranes,
- HDS cranes,
- tower cranes,
- cranes.
In addition, our services include:
- maintenance, modernisation, diagnostics, audits;
- stationary and mobile service for machinery, including forklift trucks, aerial and scissor lifts, telescopic handlers;
- sale of new and used machinery;
- replacement machine hire service (scissor lift and forklift only);
- the possibility of trying out the machine before purchase.
Questions and answers
Are theoretical classes compulsory?
Yes. We believe that the information gained in the lectures is almost as important as the practical skills gained in the exercises, and that the basics are essential for the excavator operator to do his job properly.
Who supervises the excavator operator exam?
The state exam for maintenance and excavator operator is overseen by a special commission appointed by the Institute of Construction and Rock Mining Mechanisation.
Do you repair scissor lifts?
Yes. We offer stationary and mobile service for machinery such as mobile platforms, cranes and forklifts.
